About My Constituency

Data is key to measure the progress of SDGs. Countries need accurate, reliable and timely data to show where they are making progress and where they are falling behind. Evidence-based data is crucial for Members of Parliament to perform their key functions – enactment of legislation, adaptation of budgets, and ensure accountability for effective implementation of SDG commitments.

Taking into account the importance and necessity of data in legislative and development-related decision-making, the first ever constituency-based data platform has been developed.

Titled “My Constituency,” the platform aims to support MPs by providing them better access to reliable data, so that they can track the development progress of their respective constituency against Sustainable Development Goals as well as national development plans and priorities.

It will aid MPs in evidence-based decision-making, help them formulate inclusive development plans and set priorities for their constituencies.

My Constituency is focused on the human development data that MPs need from the constituency level in order to be effective advocates to the government for further development. It will help MPs better represent their constituents and work for the cause of leaving no one behind. Having access to the data will allow MPs to meet the needs of most vulnerable groups first.

Objectives

My Constituency is the country's first parliamentary constituency-based data platform, developed for the Members of Parliament (MPs). The platform offers MPs to have better access to constituency-based data to monitor the development progress and undertake evidence-based decisions for inclusive development planning and priorities of their respective constituency.

Thematic Areas and Indicators:

Currently the platform has 86 indicators under 10 thematic areas. The selected indicators are aligned with some key policy documents which are SDGs, Five-Year Plan, and National Priority Indicators.
